Day 11: “Brushing my teeth shouldn’t feel like character development”
I don't know when it happened, but basic tasks have started feeling like quests, like something I need to tick off an invisible list. Like I deserve XP points for brushing my teeth, doing laundry, or simply existing before 8 AM.
This morning I woke up at 7:15 with full intentions to be that girl—you know, the kind who journals, hydrates, stretches, and glows with moral superiority.
Instead, I stared at the ceiling for 15 minutes, then negotiated with my own brain about whether brushing my teeth was urgent or could be rescheduled.
Spoiler: I brushed… at 7.35. Character arc unlocked.
Then I proceeded to speedrun my entire morning routine in 10 minutes, drop my ID card and name tag, and forget my watch. Again.
Honestly, med school hasn’t just taught me medicine—it’s taught me how to be a semi-functional adult with a caffeine addiction and an oddly competitive relationship with my alarm clock.
If you’re thriving, I’m proud of you.
If you’re surviving, I see you.
If you’re brushing your teeth without overthinking it, please teach me your ways.
